Title: Following Through
Fandom: NCIS
Rating: R
Warning(s): DiNozzo/McGee slash.
Word Count: 491 words
Summary: Why Tony's wallet had made its way to the backseat of the car. [Missing Series]
Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS.
A/N: Episode tag for 6X18 Knockout. Follow-up to But Here Have Pride and Truth. Since it has been a while since I posted for [Missing], here's the fic list/timeline. All in all, I'm not too pleased with this piece -- but it is what it is, and I've been wanting to get it down for a while. Please review!

Tony had decided that the entire mess was all McGee's fault.

Granted, he wasn't sure how that fit in with his current mess, but he wasn't about to let discommodes such as implausibility ruin his justification. He was going to lay this whole mess at McGee's door with extreme prejudice, and make the probie clean it up. Because it was all his fault.

It was nice to have a scapegoat. It was all McGee's fault that he hadn't been able to have a decent date for the past year; it was all McGee's fault that he hadn't had any kind of consistent sex for the past two years. (He didn't count sex-with-McGee in estimating his dry spell, since he was currently doing his best to forget he had ever had anything with McGee.) It was all McGee's fault that he couldn't move on. It was all McGee's fault that his damned wallet had ended up in the backseat of the car.

That last one was most especially Tim's fault, because he was the one who fucked Tony in that car. If they hadn't fucked, then Tony wouldn't have lost his wallet, and it wouldn't have been there for Tara to find. And if she hadn't found it, then she wouldn't have handed it back to him right in front of Tim, and Tony would never have been fixed to the driver's seat, trembling at McGee's look when he tried to stammer a defense.

It had been a gentle look. A fond one. Just a little mischievous, because McGee knew exactly how the wallet had ended up there. And he had been smiling. His real smile, the one he reserved just for Tony, especially when DiNozzo did something sweet or made Tim laugh. The smile where the corners of his mouth curved up just a little, enough to make his eyes soften and darken.

How long had he been wanting McGee to look at him like that again? Like he was the most important person in the entire world. Like there was no one else but him. Like he was the only one Tim would ever --

McGee's expression, heavy with so much meaning, had managed to rob DiNozzo of his voice and his sanity and replace it all with an emotion that he recognized and didn't want.

It was the same emotion that had overwhelmed him at Christmas. The same emotion that had led to their desperate tumble in the car. It was the emotion that made him want to get up from his desk and spin McGee's chair around so he could sit in the man's lap and show everyone who he belonged to.

It was this emotion that frightened him because of the way it consumed him. It was because of this emotion that he had tried to end it, and why he couldn't. Because of McGee, and his damned bedroom eyes.

Yeah. This was all McGee's fault.

come on Tony, you know you can't resist. You know you will cave in eventually and you know when you do you'll have very consistent, very hot, incredibly sizzling sex WITH McGee the rest of your life. So cave in already, you idiot!

Nice story.

Guuhh, so ridiculously sweet. Tony is WHIPPED even if he won't admit it, damnit. I love this series, seriously. So sweet, and so sad at times, and so... guh. Even though I already said that.

Noo, it's a gorgeous series! I'm sure there are tons of people reading, but you know, it's not all smutty smut, or something, which seems to get the most actual reviews for some reason ;)

And what a hard question D: I assume all of them isn't an appropriate answer?

I really love Virtual Machinery from the prequel, because that is absolutely what their relationship should be like always. But from Missing I think it's the first part, because the last bit just makes my heart get all twisty and fangirly sad for Tim.
