Call for beta

Okay, so. I have (so far, not entirely sure if it's finished yet) 12,400-ish words of DiNozzo/McGee first time fic which badly needs a beta. I hate to be picky ('cause I've realised in my short time in this fandom that DiNozzo/McGee is not the most popular pairing - not by a long shot) but I really need someone with exceptional SPaG (seeing as how I have that myself and need someone to pick up the typos), preferably from the US (since I'm from the UK I tend to write things in UK English), and who is over 18 as this fic contains rather graphic sex.

You may also have noticed that I'm partial to parenthesis. I'm not as bad in fic, I swear.

So, yeah, if you're good with SPaG and fancy betaing for a rather mad Scot's first plunge into NCIS fandom (although I've been watching the show for 4 years; why it took me this long I don't know) please, PLEASE be my beta for this fandom? If you're interested, I can post a short synopsis in a comment, or a little taster or something.

I wish I didn't have so many finals so I could help you, but I want to encourage the DiNozzo/McGee ficcing in any way possible! It's a tragically unappreciated pairing, and that's a dirty shame.

It is a tragically unappreciated pairing! When I first started looking around for fic I thought, okay, it's not going to be a huge fandom but hopefully there'll be lots of lovely fic, but then there wasn't lots, there was only some, so then I had to write some. And then it ate my brain, and now my brain is trying to plot more fics while I'm still finishing off this one, and it is making me FLAIL.

*koff* But, yes, strange incoherent ramblings aside, thank you for the encouragement! :) Good luck on your finals!!

Aaah, that makes sense.

Honestly, I don't understand why it isn't more popular. I mean, going off of my involvement in other fandoms, I would have assumed that the pairing would be popular because of the geek-gets-hot-former-jock angle. I would've assumed more people would identify with McGee's social awkwardness and he would be a slightly popular character. Plus, he just looks so squishy! Don't you want to just hug him and only let go long enough to get him naked? You never can predict the way a fandom goes, I guess.

Considering the fact that you've said you DO have exceptional SPaG, I will definitely offer to be your beta. :) I like to think I have those same skills, especially since the current career I am drooling over (that is, something at which I could actually see myself being able to make a living) is some form of editor. I beta for quite a few people, so you can ask around. I'm from the US, too, so that meets one of your requirements. :)

Also, despite the McGiva icon, McNozzo is absolutely one of my favorite pairings on the show. I'm currently co-writing a fic with someone that is currently just over 8800 words long, and it's rather silly in parts, but come on, that is SO the epitome of McNozzo. :D

I am actually an editor (of sorts), but there's always the problem that you can't copy-edit your own work... :-O

Mine currently isn't exactly silly, although it does have its silly moments. But yes, that's fantastic! Are you on hotmail/yahoo/googletalk, and do you IM with the folks you beta for? I kinda like to have a bit of back-and-forth with my betas, but if not that's cool. :) I'm gonna friend you as soon as I've finished this comment... *grins*

Haha, yeah, so true. I was reading through a fic I started last night & found a couple of things I ended up changing, but yeah, you don't always catch mistakes in your own writing.

Well, I think they CAN be serious, too, but really, any ship with Tony is never going to be completely serious. LOL. No, I'm not really an IM person, but we can talk through email or whatnot. And ooh, I have a website you may be interested in. It's called NCIS Fanfiction Addiction. That's where I'm posting the co-written McNozzo fic. :) I'll post it to LJ once we're done with it, though.
