Pairing: Tony/Tim, obviously
Rating: PGish
Summary: “What’s wrong McNervous, never danced with a guy before?” Tony murmured in Tim’s ear with a grin.
Authors Note: Hi, everyone! I've been a lurker here for awhile and decided to finally post something...I've never written this pairing before (I haven't written any fanfiction in years...) so hopefully I didn't mess them up too bad. Any advice would be lovely.
It was safe to say Tim McGee was tense. After all, it wasn’t everyday Anthony DiNozzo dragged him out to the dance floor. Granted, it was Palmer’s wedding, but it was still an odd occurrence. Tim would have bet his entire savings from his book money that Tony would be dancing with Ziva all night. Luckily for him, Timothy McGee was not a betting man.
So here he was, dancing with DiNozzo at Jim Palmer’s wedding in front of not only his coworkers, but in front of complete strangers as well. Yet, McGee couldn’t say that he was appalled by the entire situation. Dancing with Tony was…well, a whole different experience. He had questioned whether or not something would happen, especially since Abby had been really excited when she found out Tim was getting a ride with Tony to the wedding…Still, he hadn’t quite expected he would be dancing with DiNozzo and enjoying it.
“What’s wrong McNervous, never danced with a guy before?” Tony murmured in Tim’s ear with a grin.
“…Why, have you?” Tim asked in a cautious tone. He heard Tony chuckle quietly. “Why yes Probie, I have….back in the day. Besides, I saw you pay a buck to dance with Palmer earlier, to which I might add people would normally dance with the bride when given the chance. And, as I recall, you weren’t nervous then. In fact, it looked like you were quite enjoying it.”
McGee paused and pulled back slightly to look Tony in the face. “What, are you keeping tabs on who I dance with now? I don’t exactly know his wife, and unlike you, I don’t jump at the chance to dance with every woman I come across. Besides, Ducky danced with him too. Twice.”
“Ouch, that hurts, Timmy, it’s not every woman. Oh, and Ducky? He was obviously kidding, especially for round two. Did you see the look on Palmer’s face?” Tony asked with a laugh.
Tim let out an annoyed sigh at that and tensed as Tony brought them closer so their heads were next to each other. “Hey, relax. You’re even more tense then you were that time Vance thought you were stealing candy from the vending machine. Besides, it’s not every day you get to dance with a Very Special Agent. You should be cherishing this moment, Probie.”
Tim gave a quiet snort to that and gave the other a light headslap before moving his hands slightly to a more relaxed position. “That was you! He only thought it was me because you hid behind the door when he came in!” Tim said with a glare. Tony laughed at the memory before coaxing Tim back into the dance.
The two agents continued to sway across the floor lost in their own thoughts, not stopping even as the current song ended and another began. As they circled back around, Tim glanced over at his fellow teammates and was only slightly surprised by what he saw. Ziva was watching him over her glass as she took a drink and winked at him, causing Tim to quickly avert his gaze to someone else. Ducky was talking away to Gibbs, who seemed more focused on his dancing subordinates than on the conversation. He didn’t see any sign of Vance, much to his relief. Tim finally looked over to Abby, who had her hands clutched in front of her chest with a huge grin as she watched him. Tim quickly looked away and focused on the dance once more.
“So…What do you think about Rule 12? Stupid rule, isn’t it..?” Tony asked quietly. Tim furrowed his eyebrows, slightly confused. “What? Where’d that come from? Are you going to ask Ziva out?” Tony
pulled back and gave him a pointed look. “Really, McObvious? Ziva? Come on.”
Tim opened his mouth to reply, only to have Tony’s hand close over his mouth. “What are we doing right now? Think about it, Probie. I think even you can figure this out.”
“What, you dragged me out here t-Oh. OH…So that’s why Abby’s been mentioning it all week. Is that why Boss looks so pissed right now? You do know he’d kill us for breaking that rule, right?” Tim asked while sneaking a glance at Gibbs. “There’s a reason he made that rule, Tony…” Tony grinned, “Probably. But really, just…think about it, Tim.” Tony slid his hands down Tim’s arms until they barely rested on his wrists as the music stopped. “C’mon, let’s go sit down.”
The two headed back to their table and joined the rest of the team. Tim cringed as Abby enveloped him in a hug and began talking a mile a minute about how cute they looked dancing together. As she talked, Tim slowly moved his hand over and placed it on Tony’s leg. Out of the corner of his eye, he was glad to see the (Very) Special Agent’s lips twitch upward before he put his own hand on top of McGee’s.
Rule 12 be damned.
Sorry Gibbs.
